What is a Lace Wig?

Our lace wigs are of the highest quality and give the appearance of hair growing from your own scalp. This is achieved by attaching hair on a thin soft lace. The lace used is the closest colour to your scalp. Hence when you part the hair on the wig it appears as if you are looking at the scalp and not the lace. There are two ways to attach the wigs, either using tape, or glue: The tape or glue is closely matched to your hairline and gives it the appearance that the wig is actually your own hair. The adhesives we use are not harmful, perfectly safe and have no side effects.

How to Fit Lace Wigs:

Fitting of lace wigs should be done professionally, we have a list of studios or salons who can help you. To fit a lace wig, your hair is made as flat as possible – this can be done by plaiting the hair. Alternatively a wig cap can be used if the hair is short enough. The excess lace is cut off all the way around the wig, making sure to match the client’s natural hair line. To fit the wig onto the head, the scalp needs to be thoroughly cleaned, thereafter applying the glue or tape to your head. Care should be taken not to glue or tape any of your natural hair, as this can harm your hairline. Once the wig is attached allow about 30 minutes for the adhesive to bind and mature and then style as desired.

How Long Will My Lace Wig Last?

DDH’s full lace wigs will last for up to 2 years or more so can be bought once and re-applied several times, depending on how well you maintain and take care of your wig. We recommend re-applying your wig or extension every 3 months. Re-application of wigs and extensions gives your hair a fresh, neat and new look. You could also give yourself a break from the wig and have extensions attached, but the choice is entirely yours.

Colouring or Dying a Lace Wig:

Certainly you can colour or dye your lace wigs. But, we suggest that you do not colour or dye your wigs. At DDH we suggest that when you purchase your wigs you  try and choose the colour that you will be happy with for a long time. If you really want to change the colour, of-course it is possible.

Having decided to change the colour of your wig, seek the help of a professional hairdresser. Let the hairdresser do it for you … after all it is your pride and joy, not to mention an investment.
