Keratin Tips hair extensions (U-V-I-Tips or Fusion Extensions) are one of the most popular forms of micro bonding extensions in the market. This method uses keratin tipped hair, which is fused with a client’s natural hair using a low-heat melting process. All DDH’s Keratin Extensions is supplied in individual strands in the various types of Tips weighing 1gram each. Normally for a full head one may use about 150 – 200gms, but the choice is totally up to the client. Some just prefer a few strands to give that extra enhanced look to the hair.

What are Keratin Extensions:

Keratin Bond Hair Extensions are definitely not made from some sort of glue. Keratin is actually a protein that is naturally in every persons hair. Keratin bonds is made from a synthetic version of this same protein , which is then used to attach hair extensions to your natural hair. Keratin bonded hair extensions come in the form of U-V-I Tips These are strands of hair that are pre-tipped with keratin.

How to Attach Keratin Extensions:

The installation of keratin bond hair extensions is best done by an experienced technician / stylist . Attempting to do it on your own, will result in disaster and a total waste of your money. Before the application of keratin bonds, the hair must be thoroughly wash with a clarifying shampoo., DO NOT use a Conditioner Your natural hair will be placed onto the Tip ( U,I,V) which is then melted with a hair extension iron. Please note that the heat used by hair extension irons is lower than standard curling or straightening irons and is applied only for a few seconds – hence the heat will not damage your natural hair when applied properly. It is imperative that the keratin melts completely so that it penetrates and fuses with your natural hair. Once the keratin has melted, it is rolled between the index finger and thumb to secure the bond with your natural hair. Both the top and bottom of the bond should be completely sealed off to keep out water and other substances that can weaken the bond.

To attach the extensions to one’s natural hair, the keratin end of the extension is melted with a special low heat hair extension iron. The melted keratin is then wrapped around the client’s natural hair, very close to the scalp to form a bond. The bond created is very strong and almost invisible, provided it is applied carefully and properly.

Hair-care for Extensions:

DO NOT wash your hair for at least 48 hours after installation. Thus allowing sufficient time for the bonds to dry and strengthen. Your hair should be brushed daily with a bristle brush once in the morning and evening.’ Starting brushing from the ends of the hair and working upwards toward your head. Regular brushing prevents your naturally shedding hair from accumulating at the bonds (which prevents them from falling as they normally would) and forming an untidy matted look. Hold the bonded sections to the scalp to support the bonds as you brush. Do not attempt to remove keratin hair extensions by yourself. Always seek the help and experience of a professional hair technician / stylist to have them carefully and properly removed.
